About Chris

A high school drop out; Chris Hooper now holds a Diploma of Business from South Australian Institute of Business and Technology. In addition to this award he also holds a Bachelor of Commerce from The University of South Australia with a major in Accounting and a minor in Applied Finance. He is now concurrently studying for an Advanced Diploma in Financial Services with Kaplan and a Post Graduate Diploma in Chartered Accounting with The Institute of Chartered Accountants Australia.

He currently practices as an superannuation specialist accountant at Brentnalls SA. After two years in business advisory, his expertise in investment markets and corporate action took him to a specialist position in the firm's new superannuation department. He still retains one full service business client, which allows him to keep his business accounting skills sharp.

His early interest in the board room environment came from his joining The South Australian Council of Social Services: Youth Business Roundtable committee. He currently volunteers his skills in an executive treasury board position within the SAUCNA Inc; a not for profit sports association.

Chris has been running various micro businesses since he was thirteen. More recently, his passion for the stock market and business lead him to develop a proprietary technical analysis system known as the HDex which can analyse market trend reversals.Chris has been involved with The Startup Club since the concept inception and has been actively involved since. The Startup Club is a not for profit support group for local innovators and entrepreneurs. His motivation comes from his unyielding desire to share his knowledge with his peers and assist the entrepreneurial community.


He started Shut Up and Save as a personal project to share the word of financial literacy with the internet to help people realize their financial freedom.
